Ms. Reece has served on national panels and as an adjunct faculty member at Cleveland State University. Prior to joining Darton College as a member of its talented nursing faculty, she served as a member of the adjunct faculty at Cleveland State University. Ms. Reece’s ability to think outside the box and her commitment to continuous education has been a key quality that has separated her from her peers. At her current post, she is primarily responsible for teaching perinatal courses, and practicing maternity nursing and medical-surgical nursing. Through the years, Ms. Reece has garnered a reputation of distinction and prominence for her outstanding achievements and for her steadfastness with regard to learning and helping others to do the same.
Over the course of an illustrious career, Ms. Reece has achieved many of her professional goals. She pinpoints her greatest career achievements as living and working coast to coast, as these opportunities enhanced her exposure to the health care industry; she was also able to design an orientation program from its inception to completion. She has received recognition from Who’s Who in the Midwest, and a scholarship from Who’s Who Among American Teachers. She feels that it has been her innate passion for learning that has allowed her to thrive professionally, and she continues to strive for excellence in her every endeavor.
Upon reflecting on a career that she feels has been very rewarding, Ms. Reece recalls becoming involved in the field of nursing education because of her desire to promote health and well-being, as well as the inspiration that she received from her parents and mentor. She was able to make the most of the education that she received, which includes coursework that she completed at Kent State University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cedar Crest College, and a Master’s Degree in Perinatal Nursing from Case Western Reserve University. She has remained abreast of trends and developments in her field as a member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, and as an Associate Instructor for CPI. She is also on the Nursing Advisory Board for Southwest Georgia Technical College at Thomasville. Ms. Reece is also proud to be able to teach her two granddaughters—6-year-old Elizabeth, and 16-month Riley—in the years to come.
