Ms. Christensen enjoys her position as clinical nurse and coordinator of infectious disease and HIV clinic because she is passionate about helping patients with troubling diseases like HIV. She also has been very passionate about working in hospice care, and she did so for 10 years. An accolade to her this was starting the first hospice care in Utah for HIV patients. An expert in HIV and AIDS nursing, Ms. Christensen currently oversees the staff and patients at the Infectious Disease and HIV Clinic and checks procedures and medication dosage.
Ms. Christensen published an article on hospice and home pain management in 2004. She previously worked at a cancer institute for three years, and has been involved with HIV and AIDS care since 1988. She worked as an inpatient oncology nurse from 2005 to 2008, radiation oncology nurse from 2001 to 2004 and home care hospice director from 1994 to 2000. She also teaches at Salt Lake Community College.
Attributing her success to her love for what she does and passionately caring for each patient, Ms. Christensen is rewarded as she watches the evolution of the positive affect the medications have on each patient. With nearly three decades of experience in health care, Ms. Christensen advises others to enjoy what you do in order to achieve success.
A graduate of Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Ms. Christensen earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1976. She earned a certification in HIV/AIDS nursing (ACRN) and reads the Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care during her spare time to stay abreast of new treatments and advancements.
