Hockman, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with the Blank Developmental Screening division of Blank Children’s Hospital, has been recognized by Elite American Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the assessment of neurodevelopment in infants and children.

In her current role, Ms. Hockman is in charge of providing neurodevelopmental assessments and physical examinations of NICU patients, and patients referred to the Developmental Center. She also provides case management and service coordination for early identification, diagnosis and intervention of developmental problems in infants and children. In addition, Ms. Hockman educates families on which therapy would work best and what resources are available.

Ms. Hockman has been involved in the development of a new neurodevelopmental and diagnostic Developmental Center to provide multidisciplinary diagnostic evaluation of infants and children with speical needs in one location to make diagnostic evaluation easily accessible and provide coordination of multispecialty assessment to patients and their families. She pinpoints the highlight of her career as her observation of miracle babies being cared for. She realizes how fragile life is in very pre-term infants, and how resilient life becomes. One of her personal high points has been receiving honors from her peers as one of the 100 Great Iowa Nurses of 2010.
