RICHLAND, WA, May 3, 2012, Elizabeth Ann Padgett, BSN, Registered Nurse at the Richland Rehabilitation Center, has been recognized by Elite American Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in geriatric nursing.

Ms. Padgett has been a Certified Nurse Assistant for 11 years, and she is also a Licensed Surgical Technician; she held these accreditations before completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Washington State University in 2009, and becoming a Registered Nurse. She put herself through school while working on a full-time basis, raising her family and taking care of her mother’s rehabilitation. She is currently in charge of providing patient care and comfort, allocating medication, providing wound care, and working with occupational rehabilitation specialists, physical therapists, and speech therapists to ensure overall patient care.

Ms. Padgett remains abreast of trends and developments in nursing as a member of the Washington State University Alumni Group. She feels that God has put her into this field because she has compassion for people when they need help during their recovery periods. She feels she is an asset to the nursing profession, and the best part of being of nurse is embracing the joy of seeing people get well enough to go home where they belong with their family and friends and being a part of the team that is able to get them back up on their feet and live as independently as possible. She highlights the reward as her knowing that her patients appreciate all that she does even on their bad days. Ms. Padgett appreciates seeing their faces when they are able to go home and the thanks she receives from the family, as these details make the work she does worthwhile.
