Colton, CA, March 31, 2011, Kathleen Carter, School Nurse for Jurupa Unified School District, has been recognized by Elite American Nurses for dedication, achievements and leadership in health care.

With more than four decades of professional experience in nursing, Ms. Carter has devoted half of her career providing health care to the students of Jurupa Unified School District. A certified school nurse and audiometrist, she primarily assesses and treats the medical needs of preschool through high school students. For her service, Ms. Carter was honored with the 2001 School Nurse of the Year Award from the San Bernardino and Riverside Counties School Nurse Organization. In addition to her work with the school district, she teaches in-service programs to nursing students at Loma Linda University.

In 1970, Ms. Carter earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Columbia Union College, now known as Washington Adventist University. She continued her education further at Andrews University, where she obtained a Master of Science in nursing administration. Ms. Carter is professionally affiliated with the California School Nurses Organization, the National Student Nurses Association and RSBSNA.
