Kelly Weissman is a Registered Nurse with Advocate Health Care, Illinois’s largest integrated health care delivery system. With a strong background in neonatal intensive care, Ms. Weissman functions as a staff nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit, cares for two to three babies that were born prematurely or suffer from birth defects, and discharges patients. She sets up IVs, assesses patients’ progress, works with doctors, educates parents, and handles clinical charting and documentation. Ms. Weissman earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Bio-Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Oakton Community College. Additionally, she has remained abreast of trends and developments in the nursing arena as a member of The Academy of Neonatal Nursing. In the near future, Ms. Weissman intends to complete a certification in critical care for neonatal and pursue a master’s degree in nursing. She attribues her success to her determination to keep current with changes in healthcare. She reads, does research, and communicates with physicians. She’s compassionate, and is able to communicate with her patients’ families.
