Kristy E. Peavey, BSN, RNC is a Staff Nurse for the Labor and Delivery Unit of Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Throughout an illustrious career that has spanned nearly three decades, Ms. Peavey has continued to build on an ever-emergent skill set, consisting of neonatal nursing, professional judgment, critical thinking, and fast decision making skills. She is currently responsible for managing neonatal care and teaching health-related classes at the hospital, and for ensuring the ongoing stability of the labor and delivery unit by offering top-notch levels of care to patients, and education to people seeking to become trained in the area.

In her efforts to serve as an agent of positive change in the health care arena, Ms. Peavey set off on a journey toward professional success, determined to follow a career path that would enable her to provide quality health care to patients. She feels that in her current capacity, she is able to share with them special times that they will remember forever. She has garnered a reputation of distinction among both her peers and patients for her professionalism and a display of her genuine passion for nursing; in 2010, Ms. Peavey was named Nurse of the Year. Ms. Peavey is the proud mother of Roberta, a special Olympian. In 2010, she also traveled to England to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s death. Ms. Peavey identifies Nightingale as a true idol and the motivation for her success as a nurse, as she has studied the nurse and noted statistician since becoming a nurse, herself.

Ms. Peavey remains abreast of trends and developments in nursing as a member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, and the American Nurses Association. She is also the Chairwoman of the Professional Development Committee, and in her spare time, she enjoys reading such industry-related publications as Nursing2011. Ever wholehearted in her endeavors to help people, Ms. Peavey supports a number of worthy causes, which include First Lutheran Church, The Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Foundation, and the Special Olympics. She hopes to be remembered by her peers as an individual that truly cared for her patients and their newborn children, especially women who have had complicated deliveries.
