Gresham, OR, April 25, 2011, Sosamma Lindsay, Retired International Education Consultant, has been recognized by Elite American Nurses for dedication, achievements and leadership in health care education.
Dr. Lindsay began her extensive 50-year career in nursing education following her exposure to the field while helping in her high school’s clinic. With encouragement from the school nurse, she completed a diploma in nursing in 1951; her first step on a prolific academic journey that ended with a Ph.D. in education from Walden University. In between, she earned a Bachelor of Science and master’s degree in nursing and community health from Columbia Union College and San José University, respectively. She furthered her knowledge base with certifications in oncology, cardiac care, rehabilitation and drug abuse counseling.
Those who have been taught by Dr. Lindsay are never slow to call her a living legend in nursing. She has pioneered many efforts and programs internationally through volunteer work or otherwise, including the creation of the first collegiate program in Kenya. Looking back, she realizes that it was her determination and professional talents in all aspects of nursing that kept her going.
For the future, Dr. Lindsay hopes to continue volunteering her services and begin projects in India.
