Ms. Karp was inspired by the care given to her when she was diagnosed with celiac disease and decided to give back to the community. She dedicated 47 years of service to the health care community and earned the respect of colleagues and patients for her dedication to providing the highest quality health care services. In her role at Massachusetts General Hospital, she was responsible for coordinating utilization management, inpatient care, discharge, complex home care, home infusion and hospice services, as well as attending family meetings, assisting physicians, therapists, social workers and registered nurses. She also assessed appropriate care, documented clinical condition of patients, initiated reviews and repayment processes, and oriented staff nurses.
She became a registered nurse in 1967 and has achieved great success in her professional endeavors. For her exceptional work, Ms. Karp earned the Marie C. Petrilli Oncology Nursing award and was recognized as a clinical scholar by the Massachusetts General Hospital clinical recognition program. Additionally, she earned the Jeanette Ives Erickson Award, Award for Excellence in Nursing from Massachusetts Area Health Education Center, and the Woman of the Year Award for Bosnian Relief Effort from the Quincy Chapter of Hadassah. Ms. Karp attributes her success to her passion for nursing, and desire to deliver quality care to her patients and their families.
