Angelea M. Loretta, RN, knew she wanted to be a nurse since she was a child. She saw her dream realized and has been working in the field for 13 years. An expert at home health care supervision, Ms. Loretta is responsible for overseeing fragile children at home for tracheostomies, dialysis, ventilators, intravenous therapy infusion and intravenous therapy antibiotics, supervising home care nurses, acting as an advocate for patients, writing for much needed funding, advising and monitoring nutrition, heart, weight, glucose via telemonitor systems that way adjustments can be made spontaneously, and managing a staff of more than 300 nurses and aides. Ms. Loretta also works in the epilepsy management unit, assesses and treats patients in the pain management unit, including those with fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis, and acts as a staff nurse and charge nurse. Throughout her career, Ms. Loretta has published an article on music therapy for the hospital research utilization team at West Virginia University. She taught pharmacology, anatomy and physiology as an adjunct faculty member at West Virginia Junior College. She works hard to expand access to rural areas and currently provides services to the northern panhandle and is expanding to the eastern panhandle. Ms. Loretta would also like to become a nurse administrator and work with pediatric patients in the future.
